Forums > Living in Kunming > Looking for a book?

Unfortunately I have plans for this Sunday, but I'm really interested in this if there's another one in the future!

I have copies of Anne Rice's "Interview with a Vampire" and Gabriel Garcia Marquez's "One Hundred Years of Solitude" I don't mind never seeing again.

Forums > Living in Kunming > I CAN'T FIND......WHAT ?

This thread is old but I'm hoping some more experienced Kunmingers can help me out.

Some friends of mine and I are getting together to make a Thanksgiving dinner. My job is pecan pie. I can find most stuff, except corn syrup. I've been to Metro once or twice, but the place is so big I get a little lost. Has anyone seen it around or do I need to see about getting it from Hong Kong?

Thanks!

Forums > Living in Kunming > Things to Do in Kunming

I'm new to Kunming myself, so I can only suggest what I'm sure more experienced Kunmingers would consider cliches.

Green Lake can be a pretty place to walk around, take a book, etc.The Zhengi Yi shopping mall (take the no. 1 bus to the Confucius Temple stop) has all kinds of clothing stores and restaurants; much more fun than an American mall, if you ask me. Sometimes I like to go to Summer Lotus to look for a new book. Finally, if you want to experience more cultural things, there's always places like Golden Temple and Black Dragon Pool that are not far away at all. Or you could go to Tea City and go to a tea shop there; it's quite relaxing.

Forums > Living in Kunming > Need XBox360 Power Cord

My husband tried plugging in his US-bought Xbox360 into our transformer and it EXPLODED! Does anyone know where we could find a power cord for this system that would work with Chinese outlets? Maybe a store that sells these consoles, games, etc.? Any help is really appreciated.

One of the better pizza places in Kunming, but be warned that the pizzas are on the small side for what you pay. The normal crust is comparable to Pizza Hut (USA)'s hand-tossed crust.

Still, cozy atmosphere and the garlic toast were welcome surprises.

Wonderful! I really love it here. I came here with some friends a few nights ago and we had a great time. The Mexican food is really good, the closest I've had to an authentic American taste in a long time, even at some of the other Western places. Plus, the atmosphere is nice. True, I wish they had wifi, but you just can't beat their food. It's the best in the city.
