Forums > Living in Kunming > Looking for a Kung Fu Sifu

A friend of mine has studied kung fu for 12 years (sorry, I don't know what style). I don't know if he takes on private students or not, but I will ask and I'll post a response or PM if he is interested.

I was recently in Guangzhou and discovered this really great (to me anyway) Japanese Italian restaurant. I was really impressed by the portion sizes in relation to the cost — it's definitely the cheapest Western food I've ever seen! I was wondering if anyone knew of a location in Kunming or nearby.

Hi Mint_bund,

I don't know if you've already taken your trip or not, but I would suggest giving Vintage Cafe (near Wenlie Jie) a try. During their happy hour, you can get a double cocktail (usually 38 RMB) for the price of a single (15 RMB). They're also the only place I know with something resembling a full bar: you can get mojitos, margaritas, mai tais, etc.

John,

Of course you're welcome to join us! You're right, it would be great to have some different perspectives.

Why don't we plan to meet January 25 at Vintage Cafe — they have a lot of space and some really fun drinks/snacks everyone might enjoy. Would that work for you, Tony and John?

One of the better pizza places in Kunming, but be warned that the pizzas are on the small side for what you pay. The normal crust is comparable to Pizza Hut (USA)'s hand-tossed crust.

Still, cozy atmosphere and the garlic toast were welcome surprises.

Wonderful! I really love it here. I came here with some friends a few nights ago and we had a great time. The Mexican food is really good, the closest I've had to an authentic American taste in a long time, even at some of the other Western places. Plus, the atmosphere is nice. True, I wish they had wifi, but you just can't beat their food. It's the best in the city.
