Love the cheap smokes... formaldehyde beer, 地沟油, food poisoning, rude people, totally non-transparent and ever-changing laws/rules. It creates an atmosphere of paranoia mixed nausea!

Don't bring your dog to China. Even if they didn't deem the dog illegal and take it, your dog won't like China. I had a doberman and now she in the USA (born in China). It cost me $5000 USD to get her out of China and even then the scumbag Chinese company that did relocation picked the cheapest and longest route for my sweetheart. She was in her crate for 36 hours... The relocation company told us that in China if the dog escapes in the Chinese airport or Customs they will just shoot it, or atleast they are in their rights to.

As far as living in China... it's dirty and your dog will get sick more often than in your country... there is human feces almost everywhere (dogs typically love human feces). Coccidiosis is a huge problem too... and when you dog get's it they will most likely have a mild case of it for years and years.

The other problem is you are surrounded by tons of other dogs, many are abused and dangerous and many of the owners are total trash. A month before we got out of China (i was living in Kunming for 10 years) we were attacked by a Germand Shepherd owned by a tiny woman who could not control her vicious dog. My doberman had huge gashes that need both internal and external stitches and I had puncture wounds and scars. The owner whose dog has killed other dogs and bitten several others and people as well was beyond reproach since her husband is a bigwig in the military. When we demanded they take responsibility they refused and when we called the police they told us they could do nothing and advised us not to pursue it since these people were untouchable. We got no justice for the incredible amount of pain we went through and now my dog will bark at other dogs whenever she is on the leash since we were attacked on the leash. It's going to cost thousands of more dollars in training to get her where she needs to be.

Don't do that to you dog!!!

My friend got one of those "miniature" pigs here in Kunming. Turned out to be a normal sized pig in the end. It was cute but a selfish little creature who only wanted to eat and sleep. It did like to be held but would squeal loudly when picked up. Pigs are awesome people should probably stop eating them too... ;-)

Fish on the other hand are water insects... chickens definitely no qualms about slaughtering those. My dog caught an escaped one the other day in our xiao qu. Green curry and coconut milk does make.

@Alien Obviously you missed the point with my comment about pigs... If you cannot fathom the difference between the history of dogs and humans and pigs and humans then you might as well go back to school and learn basic comprehension.

@blobbles I mostly take issue with the way the dog ends up as a meal...

I also strongly believe that dogs and humans evolution is intertwined and we have to take some responsibility for their well being. Pigs are intelligent but they have always been a source of food for humans. Dogs through history have been used by humans as protectors, helpers and companions. These are just viewpoints to consider and admittedly reflect my personal bias and attitudes....

The main issue is the miserable dog meat trade in China and all the criminality behind it. Hope China will pass a law to protect dogs soon.
