Is anyone using their Bank of America card to take out money at CCB atms?

I have heard there is no fee, but that they charge 3% to convert.

Does anyone have a concrete example of taking money out at CCB and what they got charged?

Would be helpful to know which date the money was taken out so I can compare to the published exchange rate.

Just trying to sort out whether it's actually a good deal or not.

Thank you!

@AlexKMG My mother-in-law is tending the warehouse, cleaning up the empty packings and garbage, cooking them lunch, etc. The problem is she and other older folks can't use computers well enough. But yes you are right, older folks work damn hard.

@Haali agreed... we had alot of problems with these girls being mean and bitchy to each other. One guy's presence might keep that under wraps!

@laotou I don't we ever had a Sichuan person even apply. We had a girl from Hunan for 2 years... she was a good worker, but got married and ran away.

@faraday Flex time is a good idea, but our worker pool is at most 5 people... and only 1 person with experience... so it's something that could work when 4 out 5 workers know what they are doing.

@tigertiger more good advice... low ambition, where to find these people. My wife has been looking on 58.com for people but I told her that the people on there are more savvy and picky, not the kind of people who want to work hard and be rewarded with decent conditions and pay. It's true, there is no glamor and the company isn't going to ever be big enough where they could become VP of Technology or blah blah. But I'd be willing to pay as much 8000 right now for someone who could manage the others and work hard!

So... after reading everyone's very helpful comments and suggestions I

told my wife she needs to do these things:

1. Get two more workers, atleast one male to balance out the bitchiness that can happen when it's all women. Also a guy can do the heavier lifting when needed.

2. After we are up to 5 people, we will move to a 5 day work week.

3. Starting pay from now on is 2500 and that's just the first month. This will likely lead to pay increases across the board for existing employees. 3000 for 2nd month.

4. If we are up to 4 or 5 people and they are rocking their shit out we could start letting people go home earlier on Friday if they kicked ass and got stuff done.

@AlexKMG Thanks for the advice. Sometimes I feel like we are kind of screwed. Men rarely willing to work. When we hired them before they were willing to move the heavy stuff but sat around when the women were busy doing the other 95% of the work (picking and packing). I've convinced my wife we need to increase the starting pay now, so that's a good step.

Despite feeling demoralized we'll chip away at it and see what we can do to make it attractive and worthwhile for people. Thanks for the ideas... it's a big help!

@HFCAMPO

Thanks for the reply!

1. 20's
2. Typically all female, we rarely find men who are willing to work and who won't smoke in our warehouse.
3. HS
4. Avg turnover (if they make it after the first week) is 4 months
5. 3 years
6. 3 months is enough typically

I would agree about moving from job to job... it seems the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Alot of dishonest employers make promises of advancement and high pay which often don't materialize. We don't ask our employees to sign a contract. We work hard to keep them, increasing pay steadily, commission, etc. We had 5 employees and now we are down to 3 and another has given notice so we will be down to 2 very soon. I think a 5 day work week is optimum but right now it's impossible to achieve or we fall hopelessly behind.

We didn't train people do do one thing and another person to do something else. It's too small of an operation to be that specialized. Everyone works as a team, and the senior person there is the team leader. She is someone we like and she inspires the newer recruits well. Do you think the starting pay is too low?

Thanks for the recommendations. I keep telling my wife to talk about how some employees are making 5000-6000 a month. Problem is it just sounds like more bullshit since there is much dishonesty among employers.

@Magnifico

We used to do that (provide housing) but everyone eventually wants to move in with their BF/GF and for 6 months we ended up with a nice 3 bedroom place that was empty.

My wife is Chinese and runs a mail-order business here in Kunming. She seems to have the hardest time attracting and keeping employees. I keep telling her we need to increase the starting pay (from 2000) to 2500-3000. In fact two employees that have been with us make about 5500-6000 a month. 4000 is their base pay rate and 1500-2000 is what they get for commissions. Problem is people hear 2000 and they don't believe that they really can make 3 times that within a year.

The work they do is picking and packing orders sent through the post. There are about 500 products and some require weighing and packaging. They have to use email, web stuff an print out packing slips and postal forms.

Work hours are 9 to 6 with 1 hour lunch, 5.5 days per week, long CNY vacations and other vacations (same as others).

Given the pay structure, work type, and work hours/schedule what do you think we might do to find and keep people?

Any other business owners or management saavy folks out there willing to offer some advice?!?!

Thanks!
