China has produced their own homegrown mRNA Covid vaccine known as ARCov, slated to conduct trials in Yunnan and Guangxi. Out of the 2,000 volunteers, 500 of them would randomly be put in the placebo group. Meaning, unbeknownst to ARCov clinical trial participants, a quarter of them would receive some sort of saline solution in place of the actual vaccine for base line comparison as the controlled group. This clinical trial is part of a global phase 3 testing for ARCov, which will eventually recruit over 28,000 participants worldwide.

A quick update on Lincang, Puer, and Xishuangbanna's current travel restrictions as Yunnan reported 41 new infections (not counting asymptomatic) for July 19.

65 new confirmed cases for China (19 asymptomatic). This is a new high for China since January, "driven by a surge in imported infections." As reported in various news outlets, Myanmar has been experiencing a more serious outbreak as of late:

Restrictive measures for the unvaccinated arrived in Yunnan quicker than anticipated.

"In Chuxiong city in the southern province of Yunnan – home to about 510,000 people – all residents above the age of 18 need to get at least one dose of the vaccine by 23 July, according to a new government notice.

Those who fail to meet the deadline 'will not be allowed to enter public facilities including hospitals, nursing homes, kindergartens and schools, libraries, museums, and prisons or take public transport', the notice said. A month later, two shots will be required to enter public buildings.' "
