@herenow Thank you for your feedback. Of the four items in the main menu section, which would you move to the foldout?

A general question to the community. On mobile we added an 'app-like' menu in the bottom of the page, as opposed to the previous 'hamburger-style' menu in the top left hoping we can make sections of the website more easily accessible and more in tune with how apps generally function.

Is this making access more easy and intuitive, apart from the time it takes to get used to the new location of the main menu? There's also a fold-out menu because of the limited horizontal space a phone screen offers. Would you change the order of the items or have any other feedback regarding the new mobile menu?

@Alexez Thank you for your feedback. We're doing our best with the resources we have to update the design and general functionality. As far as ads go, most of them are designed by the advertisers themselves, although we do assist them when requested. Not too sure how many flashing images you see. Are you referring to ads or main article section on the homepage?

@Napav Thank you for the tip. We'll look into it for sure. One thing that always worries me with using third-party software is that eventually it may get blocked.

Thanks for the feedback. Indeed it can be considered a canvas to add more layers to later. A dark mode for night time viewing sounds like a good idea.

We added "Get directions" and "Open in Gaode" links to listings. Would be great to know if they work properly across all different devices. Results will vary, as each phone's default map apps are different.

@Blobbles: It's intentional. Aligning the top of the sidebar and main contact area has it's own aesthetic problems. I'll have a look at the comment box. Thanks for your feedback.

@Geezer: Glad to know it looks good on the tablet. Hope the font is clearly readable now. Making the font-size larger didn't work, in my opinion.

Generally, mobile platforms will have better font rendering, because of the higher screen resolution. Macbook retina screens look quite incredible as well.

@Markus: We tried to find a balance between desktop and mobile, as one does with responsive designs. The previous mobile website was lacking behind the desktop site because it was a separate website and therefore development.

Less scrolling on the mobile site, without hurting the desktop version, could mean the implementation of more tabs, but if you don't like the use of tabs, perhaps you have other suggestions or can submit design examples?

Voltaire: All images have been processed with Lightroom only, although the top image also has seen a mild treatment with PS's built-in HDR processer.

With good light and the help of techniques to 'increase' the dynamic range you can quite easily get very dramatic images of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.

LaoQingwa: I took the photos over three separate trips. Most of the pictures were shot in October while a few pictures that show a calmer Jinsha river were shot in March instead.

Xizhou is one of Dali's gems, only about 18 kilometers north along the lake from Dali Old Town. The old town still feels authentic and is like a living gallery, showcasing the impressive artistry and culture of the Bai people.

It makes for a great stop on the way up to Shaxi Old Town too, which is perhaps my favourite place in Dali prefecture.



I've been to the Stone Forest many times and although when entering the park it may feel a bit like a tourist trap, there's areas in the back that, even during high season, are usually extremely quiet and can be explored without being surrounded by the crowds.

The landscape is unique and different from many nearly areas that also feature karst rock formations. Definitely worth a visit for those who haven't been yet.



Five stars for focussing on healthy foods. Homemade live sauerkraut, lots of dishes with quinoa, chia seeds, avocado, and tons of other superfoods mixed to create a tasty and healthy cuisine. I hope this is only the beginning of a new wave of alternative food options in the city.



One of the better options in Lijiang for a western meal. Had a set menu through meituan for only 99 yuan that included a very decent steak and onion soup. The environment is spacious and nicely designed with the restaurant being conveniently located in between the InterContinental and LUX hotel inside of the old town. We were not drinking, but they looked like having an impressive wine collection. 5 stars if they improve on speed and service level.



Sofitel is easily one of Kunming's top hotels now, featuring one of the best locations, in between the city center and the popular Dianchi Lake area.

The views from any of its rooms, as well as the buffet restaurant are quite stunning, offering previously unseen panoramas over the whole of Kunming.

There's a bar on the 50th floor, although currently it still has some work to do to be able to compare itself with similar 'skybars' in Shanghai or Beijing.
