Some of us live outside the second ring road. I would not recommend trying to sneak in. The times of day when traffic cops and traffic wardens are not on major road junctions would severely limit your time windows for using the bike, to the point of not being worth while owning it. It is also highly likely that a neighbor or your building management would report you.
If you do pass your motorbike test, I believe you would be permitted to register and own one of the bigger and more powerful types of ebike.
@martin4privat. It would be legal to get a tourist visa (3 months) then leave China, and reapply for another tourist visa (3 months), until such a time as the Chinese stopped giving you visas. It might be possible to get the visa in Thailand each time.
However, it would only be legal if you are just visiting, and not engaged in activities that required a different visa. I see in another post that you are looking to buy a business. That requires more paperwork in China. The days when one could start or buy a small business and 'fly under the radar' are pretty much over.
The other thing I would say is, don't make fixed plans (flights, hotel deposits) for visits to the UK after October 31st. If UK does go through with BREXIT and leave the EU it is uncertain that the Schengen visa will be accepted for entry to the UK.
Ha, looking at lemon lover's comments about a place on the Pudu river. We were following the river north of Yangbi, and there are hot springs there. The locals had built a concrete block shed around a pool Two problems, firstly was the litter, secondly the whole area by that river, because it was warmer, was alive with flies, the big house fly type. We still camped there, but it was days before we got all of the flies out of the car.
I think the advantages for short term rental ebikes are the same as they were for short rental bicycles. With the added advantages of no additional cost charging, and no overnight parking issues (ebikes worse than bikes for this one).
The other advantages for the user, shared by both ebike and bicycle, include: free parking, can park anywhere, you can cross town on the metro and pick up another ride, no concern about theft (a big concern), and I am sure there are others.
