LOL. Getting a bit awkward. Maybe Peter swings that way, which is totally okay. Not judging.

@Sikmehar, Welcome to China. Pakistani people are friends of China. I know there are quite a few medical students from Pakistan studying in Kunming. At least 10 that I know of.

@tigertiger: "Yes, regular opponents who have been playing for years, are expert, play for money, and will clean out my wallet in an afternoon, showing no mercy ;-)"

Do you play Mahjong? Or Chinese Chess? You may find many regular opponents at public parks.

No D&D going on here.

Forums > Study > Rise in deportations of foreign teachers

A friendly notice to all recreational drug-using expats teaching in Kunming.

China is stepping up random inspections of schools in many major cities with enhanced drug testing measures. One being hair testing to detect marijuana use months prior (perhaps up to three months). A step up from blood/urine extractions which detect substance abuse of 10-day window.

Beside drug offenses, the PSB are also looking into misbehavior and cybersecurity offenses of foreign teachers.

Ministry of Education says they aim to promote “patriotism” of "clean... core socialist values”, reflecting a “love for the motherland” where over 400,000 foreign citizens work in the Chinese educational system as of 2017.

Rise in "anti-foreigner sentiment" and ongoing effort to curtail "foreigner influence" in academia may be the real impetus for the heightened crackdown.

Today the city government, with help of community volunteers, are hosting an outdoor "World Environment Day" information event focusing on recycling. This mini expo is located just North of 云端北路 in a park between Wuhua District Level Offices building (Renming Middle Rd.) and The Anti-Japanese War Victory Memorial Hall.

From purportedly being driven off by @dolphin, to driving this asylum school bus. Vera is now in the driver's seat, to the chant of "are we there yet?"

As it turns out, Patrick was the one driven crazy. and away,

The overabundance of duties for his editorial position (now Vera's) to also moderate posts and spams may have had taken their toll. And probably to a greater extent with Vera's extra event planning/coordination job descriptions.

So CloudBridge management team, don't get cheap on us. Hire more staff such as full time mods to handle the humdrum forums. Also, one more thing, don't skimp on the company farewell party bash for our man.

Thank you Patty (flipper) for imparting ins & outs of our little town for nearly 8 years. Your work on South of the Clouds will remain in the cloud indefinitely.

May your next journey with Sarah take you beyond the clouds to new horizons. Farewell, and be well.
