Is there a web site which will tell me, eg, which city bus will take me from the Kunming U. area to Cheng Gong? Or to the new North long distance bus station, near Metro? If I could afford a taxi to Cheng Gong, I probably wouldn't want the bus to Jing Hong, eg.
Is there a website which maintains up-to-date contact information on Kunming and Yunnan universities and colleges? Like phone numbers and URLs that really work. The ones on university websites are often not up-to-date. Nor can an outsider guess all the likely names of local universities.
As you might guess, I am job-hunting and so is a friend.
Probably you can order most of what you want at the Mandarin Bookstore in Wen Hua Xiang (www.mandarinbooks.cn/). The owners have connections in Hong Kong, etc.
I felt quite a strong shake, a bit after 2 am, near the intersection of Long Quan Road and the Second Ring Road, a rather smaller one, around 3:15. No damage to buildings, glass, etc.
Thanks to all for info. I found cotton and hemp (mian bu and ma bu) at the Luosiwan cloth market, on Na Ba Lu. Go in the gate, look left when you stand in front of the post office, and there is both cotton and hemp fabric inside the last two aisles.
