Forums > Living in Kunming > Anyone here gotten a Chinese Green Card?

I don’t know if owning a house here made any difference in my application. I think it is just one of the things that show you have a serious intention in staying here and it is proof that you have funds.
I bought my house 10 years ago and before I was married. The house is in my name and so are my bank accounts. I didn’t experience any problems when buying the property but as said that was 10 years ago and I don’t know what the rules and regulations are now and how that works in practise. What made of course a difference is that I paid for the house in full so no loan or mortgage which makes things much easier. As far as I understand property, at least the one you live in, becomes joint property when you marry in China but correct me when I am wrong.

@GoKunming
As moderator you already have the task to remove commercials, references to illegal activities and substances, etc. I have no problem if you extend this to trolls and those who are widely off the point of what this platform is about.
As TigerTiger pointed out GoKunming is getting less attractive and even gets a negative atmosphere that especially for our host community makes it less attractive.
I personally think that the level of forum post has dropped dramatically lately and GoKunming forum posts are not contributing to the standard at which a site like this likes to be. A bit more aggressive moderating could improve this.

Basically there is no policy. It is up to the bus driver. It all depends on the point of there being space for the bikes in the hold or on top of the bus.
Busses from Kunming to the outlying areas of Yunnan transport all kind of cargo as well such as one-day-chicken. In these cases there simply is no space. Bikes are not allowed in the passenger compartment of the bus even if there is plenty of space.
Often an extra payment is required direct to the bus driver but not always. Our longest trip from Lushui to Kunming for instance was free of extra charge. All other trips were some 20 to 50 RMB per bike.
PS-1: Bikes are not allowed on the high-speed trains.
PS-2: It is quite possible to send your bike as a parcel ahead of you with one of the many parcel services in China.
