Don’t worry; I found the toilet de-blocking guy. He changed his job from de-blocker to blocker, that is he stands at the street corner in a nice new uniform and blocks bikes when the traffic light are red.

In my apartment block they started whitewashing the walls of the staircase as part of the “Civilized Kunming” campaign. Rumours are around as well that they will install lights again. The last bulb broke down some five years ago so about time. This just when I noticed that my neighbours finally had stopped coughing and spitting to get the light switched on.
Before they whitewashed the walls they removed what I thought was wallpaper when I just arrived in Kunming but turned out to be a wall to wall advertisement for fake passports, driving licenses and university degrees. Problem is they removed as well the phone number of the toilet de-blocking guy. So who do I call now when the system is blocked again?
On the other hand in a civilized Kunming the toilets will not be blocked anymore. Looking forward to that.

The wait for pedestrians at zebra crossings didn’t last long. We are back to the extra bonus points for killing a pedestrian at a crossing game.
Apparently not enough drivers lost their license to make this rule stick.
From my Didi driver I heard that one “Civilized City” inspector got killed and three seriously wounded while crossing a zebra while on inspection. The three have been medivaced to Beijing and are in intensive care. Meanwhile the inspection has been called off.
The last words of the dying inspector ware: “Looks like Death Race 2000 here”. Well according to my Didi driver.

At least they have shoes and glasses. I think many in Zimbabwe will envy the British for that.

Demonstrations as such are not uncivilised.
In a civilised country people can actually protest against that what is clearly wrong.
