Forums > Living in Kunming > Yunnan Green Film Festival canceled?

Not sure about the prizes, but I did see some of the films. I particularly liked the three films of the "Community Story Series about Traditional Culture and Nature Conservation" (传统文化与自然保护的社区故事系列:《盛开的红莲花》《香格里拉之眼》《鸟语者) made by director Lu Bin (吕宾). The second of the three was set not far from Zhongdian/Xiangegila, the others in Qinghai, all dealt with Tibetans' connections to nature conservation in original and distinctive ways.

Thanks for posting the rescheduling info, enjoykunming.

Forums > Living in Kunming > Yunnan Green Film Festival canceled?

Does anyone know why this 4-day film festival, co-sponsored by the Norwegian consulate and an academic group at YunDa, was suddenly canceled at the last minute? Would be very curious to hear what anyone knows or thinks, since it looked pretty interesting... If you've got something you think is too sensitive to post publicly, email me at rperlin83@yahoo.com.

Forums > Travel Yunnan > What bus goes from the Yunnan University area to Cheng Gong

I recently took an bus (no number marking, but apparently a regular Kunming bus) from just NW of the intersection of Renmin Xilu and Xichang Lu, basically curbside (not with the regular buses) in front of the Guangyuan Hotel 广园饭店. That'll take you express to Xinluosiwan 新螺蛳湾公交枢纽站, most of the way there-- then you can switch to one of many other buses, depending on where you want to go in Chenggong (e.g. Bus 170 for Daxuecheng, where all the new university campuses are being built).

Forums > Travel Yunnan > malaria pills available in Kunming?

A few years ago we found malaria pills at what I think was technically the Yunnan, or possibly the Kunming, CDC (云南疾病预防控制中心), which apparently is at 158 Dongsi Jie. It took a lot of asking, since people would generally respond that Yunnan doesn't have malaria problems anymore...

This place is solid -- a new, low-key coffee oasis very centrally located, with flowing wi-fi, good espresso drinks, standard prices. Also a great place for laptop work, but you might want to bring headphones (unless you like looped American Christian rock).
