Hi all,

Hi again,
thank you so much for your inputs, all of you... I am happy to get tipps...
@peter99) noted all your tipps about the sourrounding of dali (weishan..donglianhua...)
@lemonlover + all) can you tell more about timing for hani-rice-terrace end/oct..begin nov... has anyone been there at this time, when do they flood the terraces? I have been to the phillipine onces and where impressed...
Also timing for Red Land/Dongchuan? I read that spring and October would be best timing? Not true?
@all) Shuhe, Baisha.. would it be better to stay there instead of Lijiang and make just a trip to Lijiang old town? Most probably we shall fly from kunming to lijiang (instead of Zhongdian).
@voltaire: when I was in vietnam, i had a superb tour by students free of charge in hanoi and surrunding. Of course we paid their expenses and some tip... Does this also exist in kunming or lijiang/dali...?
wow, thank you very much for your answers, feedback and recommendations... all of you, this is more than i expected..
I do understand very well your point of view as expats living there...
I think that my view (as a tourist) is a little different, because every travel guide recommends Lijiang, Dali, Shilin and so on... I understand, that this are very touristic places, but.... you know, I am austrian, if somebody from other countries would ask me, what to see in Austria, I would recommend: Vienna, Salzburg, Innsbruck, some more places... but this are also very touristic places, but the most famous in austria... you understand what I mean...and yes, I like photographing and my list seems to be like a ticking list...I am not there to relax.. I want to see as much as possible from the country, because i asume it is my only trip to yunnan...
- But in detail, as per your recommendations:
- Liiang, @all: very touristic, I shall stay there only 1 or 2 days, to see it and move on...on the other side, it´s one of the most famos places in yunnan, so just to have an impression, I dont want to skip it at all...
- Shangri La, @Lemon Lover, yes, I think we shall skip this from itinerary, because all 3 of us have been a year ago in Ladakh (which is simular) and we can save time flying direct to Lijiang and make Tiger Leaping Gorge from there...
- @Peter99.. Weishan, Xiangyun.. you mean the districts/provinces or any special place? I think this would be a good idea, because this seems for me to be more rural places...
- @lemon lover: thank you for very detailed information: we skip Shangri La and Baishuitai (we know such water terrace from other places), We are thinking of replace Shilin with Naigu Stone Forest. Yuangyang: I thougt, that end of October (would be our last stop around November/1 or 2) the rice terrace will be already flooded?
Dongchuan/Red Earth: I read the best time is spring and october? Is this not correct?
-@voltaire: thank you for information about Baishuitai and TLG, as well as Dali (your tipps are very interesting) About Vietnam, I have been there for 3 weeks last year, I liked it very much, especially the north, I hope yunnan will be simular...
All tipps from you all are very welcome... :-)
Hi,
thank you very much for your replies and information, we shall have passports as proof of age with us. I read that reductions are mostly only written/signed in chinese... so we shall have a written sheet, where our age and ask for discount is indicated in chinese...
@lemon lover: thank you very much for the link of fees. This is also an interesting site for information...
Hi, i read that the entrance fee´s for sights in yuannan are rather high and there should be a reduction for older travellers? Is this true? I will be 60 years old a few weeks before arriving in kunming...
Thanks for info..
