Forums > Food & Drink > Tofu for Infant?

One of the very few things I and my MIL both agreed was a boiled egg yolk mixed with mothers milk or formula (Shipped from USA).

Started the egg yolk once per day. At 6 or 7 months 2 yolks a day.

Look up Weston A Price foundation for other ideas.

The yolk is full of great nutrition and easy to digest.

You will not find western or CHinese brand baby meat products. At 8 or 9 months most get fround meat and boil it and puree it much like the Nurishing Traditions baby bood reciepes on Weston A Price web pages

Tofu? Increases Insulin, Insulin Like Growth Factor -1

I do even eat my wifes tofu. But then I aim for a ketogenic diet.

I think a quick look in a SE like yahoo or google may help with the milk and cream and to add or not add a yolk or whole egg and what others think of the many tastes. Eric[...]

Here are links to my recipes for covering some of the most popular flavors:

Vanilla - undoubtedly the most popular flavor in history; as popular now as ever. Great on its own, in a sundae or as an accompaniment to a hot pudding or pie.

Chocolate - possibly the most popular flavor for an ice cream sundae. Putting together 2 'melt-in-the-mouth' foods like chocolate and ice cream makes for one of the most irresistable desserts ever.

Strawberry - fragant and fruity; a seasonal that makes summer well worth waiting for.

Chocolate Chip - another variation on chocolate for the many chocaholics out there.

Pecan & Maple Syrup - sweet, nutty and sticky - a glorious ice cream on its own or with your favorite hot pudding.

Banana - quick and easy to make, a great treat any time

Butter Pecan - creamy and nutty, it's one of the best

Honey - surprisingly popular - an evergreen flavor

Mint Choc Chip - always popular especially with children with its wonderful blend of color and flavor.

The order of words
The structure of language influences learning
Think of a frequently used noun or verb in our language. Try to count how many times you have uttered it in the last two hours. Now, do the same with the article "the". The language we speak is not only made of content words (nouns, verbs, adjectives, for instance) but also of lots of words that provide a support to them (articles, prepositions, etc.) that are used much more frequently than the first (function words, or functors). Despite the huge variability of known languages, language scientists were able to divide them roughly into two main categories: the languages in which the functor precedes the content word – and that use a Verb-Object order (VO) – and vice versa (OV). The experimental observations showed that the frequency of the terms is a clue that helps identifying to which category a language belongs and, as a consequence, "tuning in" to it.

Knowing the language's structure enables the individual to segment the speech (to divide the language flow into single words) and affects language learnability. This effect has been observed also in very young children for some languages, such as Italian and Japanese. Now a group of neuroscientists including Jacques Mehler and Marina Nespor of the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA) of Trieste have extended the experiment also to adults, employing a wider range of languages. The research has been published in the review Frontiers in Psychology.
The experiment was carried on Italian and French native speakers (in representation of the VO language group), and on Japanese and Basque native speakers (OV languages), carrying out learning tasks centered on sentences in an artificial (invented) language that could feature one of the two order structures. "In the previous studies we observed that infants as young as 8-month-old already 'prefer' an artificial language that mirrors the structure of their native language," explains Nespor. "In this new series of studies we have observed this type of preference also in adults".
"This would also explain the increasingly greater difficulties encountered in learning a new language when growing up. Children, while showing such preference precociously, are in fact much more flexible and can easily learn also a language that has a different word order from their own, while adults seem to be more rigidly tied to their native language scheme." adds Nespor. "Of course, when learning a language, also other variables come into play such as lexicon and prosody" concludes the neuroscientist.

My wife and I had our baby in the USA.

As an American you can home school a child in China.

As an American IF the child is bright (99.9 percentile) a free 7-12 education to include University level work is available in the USA.

Why not make your own?
No need for a machine!
One smaller bag for the ingredients
One larger bag to put ice and salt and the smaller bag with the ingredients

Great home made real ice cream

Check for ratio of milk and cream and if you like egg yolk or whole egg

Open mind
Open mouth
Eat ice cream

(If sugar is a problem liquid stevia can be bought over the internet)

Also a great demonstration for children or adults who like ice cream!

Before a knee jerk blame fat response maybe some enlightened reading?

Just for a start: Eric

The advice (Tao) from thousands of years ago that to live longer give up the grain and eat less meat is as valid today as it was then.

A new study (Nutritional Science Initiative) NuSi hopes to explore the effect of the Standard American Diet (SAD) that is 50% carbohydrate 15% protein and 35% fat with a more ketogenic approach of 5% carbohydrates and 15 % protein and 80% fat.

These types of studies should shed light on the effect to glucose levels, insulin response levels, and ketone levels that might stop and or reverse the effects of high sugar and grain diets. (Is it just the sugar (mostly fructose effect) or all glucose elevating carbohydrates and even exessive amounts of protein via gluconeogenesis?

And even all fats are not alike. I think if Ben Franklin could not eat it then we should not or at the very least be a skeptic. Modern high temperature man made soy, corn, canola, and cotton seed oils from back to the Nepoleonic era and forward need to take a back seat to lard, tallow, and for westerners butter and cream.

PS My fasting blood sugars are under 83 mg per DL and AIC below 4.5 MM so the proof is in the diet. (Mine is high fat and moderate protein with a few vegetables. Hint (No grain and no sugars)

IMO some of this type of fraud could be detected much sooner with a proactive data search. Many western canned software programs use algorythems like Benfords Law aka Digital frequency anaylysis to detect trends that can result in the early detection of fraud. Cooking the books is nothing new and when something of value and human nature come together the triangle of percieved need, percieved opportunity, and rationalization lead to fraud. There are no small frauds; only big frauds that have not had time to develope.

The USA is no exception. Look at what has happened in Detriot.

The balance is between to cost of prevention and the cost of fraud.

When looking at crops many options are open for yunnan. small scale diverse family operations can use the concepts of permaculture to include diverse crops like avocado or berry crops along with medicinal crops like arctic root (a pretty yellow flower) with a long tradition in Chinese medicine.

Aquaculture can balance the production of fruits and vegetables with fish and avoid the problems and cost of the high use of fertilizer.

Some areas can include some nuts but not a monocultute crop. A few of this, that and the other crop is better for long term family farms and local food production and food security. Take the bes of agricultural science and economics to look for long term diverse production.

When 75% of the worlds population lives in a city (Circa 2050) crops may be grown in the city and in the home or apartment. Chicken, Pig, Cow, Egg, Fish, vegetables and fruit are a possible in the city option. This can also provide work and business opportunity for those moving from the village to the city.

For a longer healthy life we can all give up the grain and eat less meat which means moderate vegetable intake with small meat/protein portions and a ketogenic portion of healthy fats.

Have you looked at the use of black soldier fly larvea grown in waste from the chickens and pigs to feed the insects to then feed the birds?
In 1776 China was the most productive farming area and can be with some new agricultural options that move away from monoculture grain production.
