Does anyone know of, or have, a workshop where I could do some basic woodworking? I am looking for tools like a ban saw, drill press, vice grips, etc.. I am willing to pay for the time used.
On a related note, I am also looking for a place to buy some decent quality wood in small quantities. Any ideas? Thanks!
Headed to Dali this weekend and am wondering if anyone can recommend good places for dinner or drinks. I am not expecting anything special. I have been many times before and know how overly commercialized it has become. Bad Monkey has OK beer but there's often no place to sit and it's too loud to have a conversation. Maybe there are some guest houses with decent food and cold beer?
I am looking for access to rooftops across Kunming in order to work on a photography project. Ideally I would like to be up and shooting from about 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM any day of the week. If your apartment building or office building has roof access, especially if it has a nice view of the city, please let me know! I can pay you for your help in beer.
I count on bit torrent to download TV shows and movies in Kunming. Streaming is too slow and low quality. With my VPN turned off, speedtest.net says my max download speed is 20 MB/s. But when I start downloading a torrent with 1000+ seeders, I am getting download speeds of less than 10 kB/s. What gives? Is China Telecom throttling bit torrent traffic?
Has anyone struggled with bit torrent speed in Kunming and discovered a way to improve it? Anyone using Usenet as an alternative to bit torrent?
Lastly, is anyone using VPNinja having difficulty connecting to servers? I haven't been able to connect to any servers for about a week. I am considering switching to Astrill. Any recommendations on VPN
What is the best part of the lake for making a day trip? Looking for a relatively uncrowded nice stretch of beach to take a group of about 20 students. Proximity to a good restaurant and paddle boat rental a plus. Thanks!
Getting Away: Cycling and camping at Fuxian Lake
