@tigertiger, made a mistake. It's in a town called Caopu (草铺) in Anning, about 30 km from Dianchi.
This refinery hasn't been noticed by locals until the National Development and Reform Commission approve it this year.
The Petrochina is going to set up an oil refinery in Anning Kunming this year, with capacity of 10 million tons per year.
But such a project which may produce so much pollution is on the agenda of local government without hearing any voice from local people. And it will be next to the Dianchi. Poor Dianchi. Now it's going to have to fight against pollution from the refinery.
As a Yunnaner for more than 20 yrs, I never heard of any place with abundant oil here in Yunnan. So about getting a refinery here, I don't see any purposes but transfer the f**k pollution from east to west, covered up by the idea of developing economy in the west. Economy, economy and economy are the only thing that matters for local government.

Beijing are the beat city to learn Mandarin, cause the non-beijing locals is more than 60%. If we involved the people who are not born in Beijing but get a residence registration certificate of Beijing, the this proportion is much bigger. When u are in beijing, everybody is talking with each other using mandarin, cause it is the only way they can understand each other. But the cost and the air quality are...ah...u know.
I can be 100% sure that u will find Postal Savings bank of China in any rural area of China. This bank used to be only post office in CN. So it has branches everywhere in China, though now it has been transformed into a bank. And u can get a account from it.

Posted byActually, there is a bus from Jianshui city area to swallow cave, which costs 10rmb. If taking the bus to Mengzi or Gejiu, you got to walk off the highway and walk nearly one kilometer to the gate. You can take the bus in the same station with those from kunming.
Confucius temple in Jianshui is the second largest of its kind in China, not the third if i am correct.

It seems some people are really blamed young generation for being "foreign-oriented". It's like exposing badness to the other countries means young people don't love this country anymore. We young people do this because we are oppressed since going to the kindergarten. We can't go to a demonstration when the Olympic torch is grabbed, when those innocent sailor got killed on the Mekong River, when Diaoyu Island is possessed by Japanese... We can't do nothing but watch the gov saying:"We are always trying to settle disputes peacefully...".
Yeah, young people are lost. Do u know why? We do not dare to protest until our ordinary life is threatened.

Posted byGejiu is actually much more like a spring city than Kunming. The temperature ranges from 10 to 30 degree for the whole year. But it is too small without continuous ability to develop in the future. It may not a good place to work but absolutely a good place to spend the time when u are too old to go anywhere. Love it.
