I went in for my work visa. I just sat there and said nothing, while the PSB officer told my boss that I shouldn't do bad things. Answered about 2 questions, along the lines of "have you been to China before?"
Took about 10 minutes or less.

There was a thread about a year ago regarding flying (domestically) without a passport, due to it being at the PSB for VISA renewal.
Just wondering if anybody has any updated info or experiences on this?

@hasenman - The express bus will still be running after midnight. You'll have no problem getting back into the city. I arrived after 2am a couple of months ago and used it.
@Liumingke1234 - AnkiDroid is also good for flashcards. It has many pre-made shared decks that you can download so you don't need to worry about making your own (assuming you have an Android phone).
