Forums > Travel Yunnan > bus from Yunlong to Lanping?

You are more likely to find Lanping in a mining guide than in a travel guide. Also Lanping is Nujiang Prefecture it is not a typical Nujiang place. Therefore you will have to go to the Nujiang Valley itself; especially the area around Bingzhongluoxiang is a traditional hiking area.

The Pi River Valley is interesting for hiking but don’t expect to find any accommodation apart from Yunlong, Nuodeng and Jiancaoxiang. Lanping is a mining town and the location of a very pollutant zinc mine.
The Pi River Valley has a wide collection of ancient bridges ranging from metal chain bridges, wooden bridges and even rattan bridges. They are all on the river. For serious hikes you will have to cross from one river to the other crossing the in-between mountain ranges.

There is a direct bus between these two cities. There are minibusses traveling along the Pi River as well but these will not go all the way. If you however would like to have a look at the ancient bridges along the way this might be a better option. The main bus probably only stops at the especially for tourist reconstructed rattan bridge convieniently located just next to the road.
Wander why you want to go to Lanping. It is a rather grim mining town without any interesting points.

Forums > Living in Kunming > WuLing Mini Vans?

In addition to Tigers valid points I like to suggest that you compare them to the Changan mini busses if you want to go outside the big city. In general Changans are more used in rural area and there is a bigger service network for them. In general they have a bit higher ground clearance compared to the Wuling. Wulings you find more in the towns.

In China cars have a picture ID and they thus have to be the same as in the picture. Dealers use a generic picture and if this is without additional bars and roof-rack than you have to present them for the annual inspection like that. If you planning any external changes (Including text etc) than you better do this before registration and have these changes in the picture necessary for the registration.

If you change the seats be aware that all new cars have to have safety belts for each seat and that they cannot be changed from 3 point to 2 point.

Be aware as well that sun shade plastic window films are no longer allowed in minivans. They have to be ripped out before an annual inspection so simply don’t put them in. (This is because than to public can check that you are not carrying more people than stated on the outside of the van. (At registration they will spray the maximum number of allowed passengers on the outside plus the telephone number to report breaking of this rule)

Forums > Travel Yunnan > cycling around kunming

Hi Salih,

The title of your mail is wrong and that’s why you might not get a response.
Cycling around Kunming is something completely different than cycling to Luoping.

The stretch between these two cities is probably the worst cycling route in Yunnan. There are no alternatives to the main road so you will be cycling on main roads with lots of traffic. Those stretches on which the main traffic takes the motorway are through area with mines and therefore extremely dirty both in dust and air pollution created by diesel fumes.
Finding an alternative road will include enormous detours and will make the distance twice as long.

The Luoping area is however nice to cycle in so I suggest you get your bike on a train and go cycling in the area from Luoping railway station.

"Not only will the visas allow tourists to visit the Czech Republic, but also all other countries in the Schengen Area. Under the Schengen Agreement, tourists may use visas for any one country included in the treaty in order to enter any other country."

The old British consulate is located at N: 24-02-03 E: 98-29-32 at the former rice and oil market at the old West Gate (Xi Men which is no longer there). It is next to the stadium in the middle of town. The area around is under redevelopment and should become a town park. The building is totally restored but they left the war damage in the outside walls intact.

@Alien.
The above was just a compilation of entries from vicar in an other discussion.

I already contributed his blabla in reaction to the sentence: "The water crisis in Southeast Asia has been blamed largely on climate change strengthened weather phenomenon El Niño." Just trolling a bit.
Indeed I am not a Vietnamese farmer.

And what's wrong with the world being warmer anyway? People are moving to warmer climates all the time. The places that had coldest winters on record last/this year will certainly be hoping for a warmer period. Adapting to climate change shouldn't need to be that expensive or scary. When the ice on the river Thames used to form so hard between the 17th and 19th centuries, people weren't saying they were all going die if they didn't change their lifestyles. They had frost fairs on ice. Today's warnings on climate change are at biblical proportions and only being used as the idea of hell is losing its hold. In fact the average climate is manipulated by the sun's heat intensity at the time and the orbital position of the earth in relation to the sun which does change over long periods, during which humans were not around for the most dramatic changes. You can also argue that the hotter the sun, the warmer the earth, hence more C02. Proof of major climate change over millions of years all around us, stone forest for example. Try and get the picture of the large chunks of ice collapsing into the ocean during the SUMMER and the polar bear standing hopelessly on the last small block of ice on earth out of your mind. If you were right, the artic cap would be totally gone by now as the use of fossil fuels has been constantly increasing since the idea of climate change by human error came into existance. And from NASA. The largest amount of ice in antartica since 1979, yes, in 37 years. How much fossuil fuel has been burnt since then I wonder. A lot more than the numerous previous ice and warming ages. It's been unpredictable for the past few billion years. Putting the majority of attention and money on agenda focused, tax rising, control grabbing schemes is not working. To save ourselves from natural climatic conditions beyond our control we must turn our attention to how best we can protect ourselves against it because if we are honest to ourselves we will never be able control or prevent extreme weather conditions in our lifetimes.
