On the whole, good, considered advice, so thank you very much to you all! As to the last few posts, I should probably reiterate, certainly not a Chinese/foreigner thing, or in other words, I think cars should stop (where appropriate) to let *anybody* cross the word, not just me. The most important thing, of course, is not to lose my temper/get into a rage.

Well, I have seen a counsellor, but... I just keep flying into these fits of rage. Where I come from, things are very simple, if there are people on a pedestrian crossing, or crossing at ANY corner, drivers stop, wait for the pedestrians to cross the road, and then go. But here! If it's not blaring the horn, it's literally swerving around anything and everything. So, this morning I was with my wife, and I just went off - I screamed at them and tried to tell them what the point of a pedestrian crossing was. Never mind these, the point is that my wife got angry at *me*. We've just come back home, and she started crying, and no matter what I say she just tells me to shut up, What can I do? I don't want to be like this, I don't know what the problem is.... I love my wife, I don't want her to be angry or sad. I just get annoyed at some things, mostly crossing the road and worrying about being late. So, if I could just never need to cross a road ever again, or never need to work, go to an appointment etc., problem solved, right? But obviously that's impossible. I don't understand what's so wonderful about having to "take your life into your hands" just to cross a road, but maybe that's just me.

There are a couple of buffet, all you can eat vegetarian restaurants in the city centre. One charges 12 yuan per person, the other 20 yuan per person. They are Buddhist in some way or other (owners Buddhist?) and there are signs strictly prohibiting meat (and alcohol and smoking and wasting food) in the restaurant, so I imagine they must be strict with food preparation, although of course I don't actually know.

One is on the second floor of the 昆明走廊 (Kunming Hillance) building, near the Golden Eagle mall. The other is nearby, I forget the street name, but it is around the corner from 威远街 Weiyuan Street. The street leads from 人民中路 Renmin Middle Rd to the back of Carrefour. There might be more like these around the city perhaps.

Just remember, they are serve yourself/buffets, so get there early for fresher food.

I went to the exhibition this afternoon, and it was amazing. It was the first time I've been to the Contemporary Gallery Kunming, and the gallery itself is quite impressive - I was expecting perhaps just a small building, but it is actually very spacious. The exhibition design, with the 'living garden' idea, really draws you in to the exhibition space, while the centrepiece artwork "The journey of Chinese plants" is a wonderful riot of colours. If you like art, flowers, botanical illustration, or even just something new, I highly recommend going!

As Sam said above, a good idea, and I look forward to more. But the interview could have been more interesting, even for this sort of thing, a few more piercing, probing questions wouldn't hurt. On another note, eight or nine hours a day? Is that standard? If so, cabbies in Kunming are on a better deal than those in Australia, with standard twelve hour shifts!

When I bought a new bus card at Xiaoximen ladt year, I was told it could be used on the Metro, but I haven't ridden yet, so can't be 100% sure. The card has 一卡通 printed on the front. Oldet bus cards won't work though.

I've been a few times now, it's a nice place. Beers brewed in~house are of course something quite special, and the pizzas, and some of the other snacks, are very nice. I was there tonight, and for the first time, tried the American~style ribs. I have to say that they weren't as good as I was expecting. But that could be that I'm not really familiar with this dish? On the whole, though, it's a great place.
