"Hekou Port, the largest in Yunnan on the China-Vietnam border, resumed services on Sunday, with people from the two countries crossing the China-Vietnam Nanxi River Bridge and exchanging flowers to celebrate.
The port, which has reopened channels for pedestrians and vehicles, is connected to the Vietnamese province of Lao Cai by land and water. For years, sightseeing and cross-border tourism in the area has boomed, and cross-border public transportation have developed. In 2019, some 6.61 million inbound and outbound trips were made through Hekou Port." China daily
Has anyone been to Shigu recently? It appears Stone Drum is temporarily or permanently closed, climbing guesthouse looks done and I couldn't contact 塔克 guesthouse. Are there any other hostels or guesthouses there apart from the hotels in shigu town?
Anyone know which hospitals do oral, rather than nasal covid tests? Seems 红会医院 were told to ram it deep. Very painful. Would rather avoid that in the nose next time.
Is there any way for foreigners to get the covid test on the health code or an app where you can check the result. I did mine at the 红会医院 (red cross hospital on qingnian lu) It seems you need a Chinese ID to see it on their wechat program. I won't have time to pick it up (or I'll have to delay travel plans) thanks.
I agree that the government manages water resources badly. But there is a complete lack of awareness from most people (not just in China) that water is a resource that has to be processed and is valuable. I have noticed people taking half an hour+ showers, washing their cars and using way too much water for washing the dishes. You can be certain that the richer families in the richers areas proportionaely use far much water than the older Xiaoqus.
Plus, imagine the loss of face cruising in a dusty BMW..
