Forums > Living in Kunming > internet connection

If the apartment already has a phone account then you need the owner of the account to add Internet service.

If there is no phone account then go to China Telecom with your passport and get phone and or Internet connected. Once you do the paperwork they will normally come in a few days to connect the line.

Without knowing the details you need to also think of the possibility that this guy has a real beef with the managment and is making his one man stand against them, I have seen that type of protest before,,its a real pain if you live in the compound, but nowdays its also often the only way to get any issues resolved.

Most likely the guy has some sort of "protection" though, otherwise the security/management company would have beaten the s&%t out of him already.

Forums > Living in Kunming > anybody know the fastest way to get the US immigrant visa

An American friend of mine took his wife and kids back to the States last year,,was a lot of documents to fill in and hoops to jump, but from what he said wasn't too difficult. Same story for an Aussie friend of mine.

If you guys are married and have lived together for more than 2 years with a kid,,you will have a high chance of getting a immigrant visa. You just have to apply and make sure you show as much proof of your relationship, plus the embassies required docs.

I have had the same experience myself with an EU country.

If you guys don't have much money then better get to the US fast for free public school education

I would suggest you get top bunk soft sleeper, you can have your suitcases in the storage area above the door and laptop and valuable on your bunk. The top bunks are much better for keeping stuff out of the way,,plus they are cheaper.

You also have the advantage of using the Soft sleeper waiting room which gives you a less crowded wait and normally you dont have to fight with the masses to get on the train, which is one way to get things stolen.

I think that problem is that airlines are sht scared of having an accident so they are way over cautious when it comes to grounding their planes. I remember once "trying to" fly out from Guangzhou to find my airline was not flying while another airline continued to fly. It seems these decisions are made by the airline not the airport, which also explains a bit why the airport might not have up to date information on flight disruptions.

Apart from freight and luggage,, every things seems back to "normal",, but,,, as I was waiting to pick people up at the airport today there seemed to be a large number of people picking up bags after their flights were cancelled.

I flew in yesterday and had no problems,,so its seems your mileage may vary.

Snow in the north of China caused some flights to those areas being cancelled today.

when we renovated we took our workmen to B&Q to select materials from their excellent range if samples. Then with that list in hand we went to the construction market near Mingbo bridge and got the same materials at either half or one third of the B&Q price.

It's a good place for window shopping.
