If you buy a mobile-phone in Hong Kong, you will have to input some of the the local settings manually, and if you want to read and write simplified Chinese, you might have to flash your mobile-phone firmware (flashing the firmware is usually freeof charge and can be done at the local China Mobile or China Unicom shops).
