I never excluded home schooling. However, homeschooling here has move advantages because the child will be exposed everyday to Chinese culture and language. It is the same problem when Chinese students try to learn English when it is spoke seldomly. They are exposed to it passively.

I agree with @cloud. Speaking is the first thing you learn. Reading and writing takes a lot more effort to graps and memorize. Many students of all languages can speak but they can't read or write effectively. I would have my kids study Chinese here until they are teens and then consider them studying abroad to cement both languages. Chances are since learning Chinese is much harder than English, if they were to live abroad with little Chinese they will start using English and skip Chinese.

I think the Chinese character here means 'swipe' as in 刷卡(swipe card) though also means 'to brush'. I could be wrong. Anyway, you are absolutely right about people's obsession with Wechat and the need to be on their cellphone 24/7. Horrible times we're living in.
