I've been having trouble accessing my gmail account for some weeks now, it's been incredibly slow. Today I can't sign in at all, I just get that ominous message 'The connection to the server has been reset'. I can access other sites with no problems. Is anyone else having the same problem?

I've bought a TV at a great second hand market that was recommended to me. It's the best one I've been to in Kunming and at the moment there don't seem to be any signs of it being knocked down....

We got a big Haier TV for 480 yuan. It works well and it probably about 3 years old. They had everything there from furniture to bikes and mobile phones. I would really recommend it for anyone moving into an unfurnished place who doesn't want to spend a fortune.

The market is in Fu De Village (福德小村)That's West of Chun Cheng Lu 春城路 on the other side from the Kunming Internationl Trade Centre. Our taxi driver knew where we meant when we said 福德二手市场 but if you're getting the bus you could just get a bus toward the airport and get off at the stop for the Trade Centre (国际会展中心)then walk West and ask around. It's been there for 20 years and is pretty famous so you shouldn't have any trouble finding it.

I have often found that generic drugs are available here as an alternative to brands that might be prescribed. Also I've sometimes found that the hospital pharmacies are not as well stocked as the normal high street ones. Just check the expiration date of whatever you end up with...
