Forums > Living in Kunming > Do you have US dollars or GB pounds you want to exchange?

I need to get some US dollars or British pounds in cash this week as I am going to Nepal (or of course Nepali rupees!). Does anyone have any they want to exchange for RMB? I want to get about 700 dollars but if you have less than that I would also be interested. We can just look at the official exchange rate for the day on this website (www.xe.com) and both save on the usual charges.

Please send me an email if you're interested: maudecroucher[at]gmail.com. Thanks!

Or if anyone has any suggestions of how to get hold of foreign currency in cash I would be very grateful.

We went there to watch the game on Saturday and the fuwuyuan said they didn't have the channel. She wasn't one of the ones who has been there when we've gone before and she claimed that they had never had it and was completely impervious to the stupid foreigners assertions that they had in fact watched Star Sports there within the last week. I don't know whether or not they're planning to get it back or if they only had it by accident in the first place but I would certainly recommend calling ahead if you want to watch any more matches there.

Here is a challenge for all of you. Does anyone know of anywhere in Dali that might conceivably be showing the rugby?

Thanks!

I've never sorted out my own visa before, I've always done it through a language school. What do I do, just go along with all the usual stuff like registration and photo and my husband's passport with the visa in it?

Thanks very much for your help.

If my husband has a student visa is it possible for me to get a visa to accompany him without being attached to a school? Does any one have any experience with this? Thanks!

It sounds amazing. I would love to stay at the Linden Centre but looking on their website it seems that you have to participate in their tour programmes if you want to stay there. Has anyone stayed there without getting involved in their activities? I'm sure they're great for first time visitors to China but I just want a hotel so I can explore by myself. Thanks!
