Forums > Living in Kunming > Where to find a baby gate for stairway

We are moving to Kunming in about 10 days and already have an apartment waiting on us. We will need to find a couple of safety gates for the stairways to keep our 1 year old off of the stairs. Does anyone if I will be able to buy one when I get there or a place I can order them and have them shipped.

I read on someone's facebook that they had read that this was a result of the city shutting off the drainage because they didn't want water getting into the new subway line. This person's same post said that 300 people have been killed as a result. Is this true...have any of you heard the same?

Yea, great article. Thanks for writing this. Rocco is a great man, and he has some of the best food in Kunming.

I want to tell one story about Rocco. Last year when he was near Wenlin Jie, a friend and I went to eat at Rocco's. While we were eating, someone tried to steal my friend's electric bike. In the process, they messed up the locking system on the handlebars. As a result, my buddy couldn't unlock the steering column. Rocco found out what happened, and him and an employee helped us carry the bike up his stairs and into his restaurant to store for the night. The next day when my friend went to see about the bike, Rocco had sent an employee down the street to find someone to fix the steering column, so the bike was ready to go when he arrived. There aren't many people who would do this for a complete stranger.

We have tried to go often to eat at Rocco's to say thanks. Everything is so good. My wife's favorite is the gnocchi with white sauce. I love the pumpkin raviolis, but everything I have ever eaten has been good. If you haven't eaten at Rocco's go. This is a great man who cares about the quality of his food, and he is willing to go out of his way to help a stranger.

My wife and I have been a to Magiano's twice in the past few months, and we have been super pleased both times.

Last night, we ordered pizza (it came with freshly graded parmesan cheese), pasta, & a risotto dish. All three were excellent. Besides great food, we were served freshly baked bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar for free. To top it off, the owner brought us a small piece of American ribeye to taste for free.

The wait staff was very attentive, and every time my water glass was empty, they were over to our table in just a few seconds to fill it.

We were able to eat for a little more than 200rmb. This might sound expensive to some; however, I thought it was a great deal considering we got bread and three dishes. We will certainly be giving them our business again.

I am not familiar with Hongshan Dong Lu. What area of town is this, and what is it near.

My wife and I would love to come try your restaurant.
