The people who have said there is nothing to do in Kunming are either uninformed or not trying. There is plenty to do in this city. I've only been here for a couple of weeks and I have already found live music, squash courts (which in China is amazing), a rock climbing community and many other things. You just need to do some looking around and you'll be sure to find something fun to do. Don't listen to those naysayers.

Hey Everyone,

My girlfriend and I have just moved to Kunming from Guangxi province and we are looking for some climbing in and around the city. We have heard and read about the climbing gyms and will be checking them out, as well as buying the guide book (SUPPORT BOLTING!!!), but we would love a local to show us the ropes as it were. If you are interested in taking a day trip or weekend trip we would love to share the expense. We have harnesses and shoes but no ropes or other gear.

Hit us up,

HenRock

Well said Chingis. The US has problems, that is not the argument here (or at least it shouldn't be), but rather the attempt by two world powers to address an issue that is quite serious. I applaud both sides for coming to the table consistently to talk about the Human Rights issue. However, there needs to be an actual dialogue and then steps should be taken by both sides to fix the problems address. Just coming together and pointing fingers at the other's problems will not solve anything. The US has made, and continues to make mistakes. The same can be said for China. Everyone knows what needs to happen, I feel as if I'm preaching to the choir. At least it is being address in some way. Hopefully this will lead to actual reform.
