@yankee00 A Chinese version of the site would be nice but the effort is much larger than just the admins spin out a subforum with a few clicks.
@tigertiger Thanks for sharing the info, it looks like a good place dedicated to adhoc language learning.
A subforum here can be more connected to the gokunming users since the posts are about the local community. The local words, dialects, slangs are more in-situ than a dedicated language learning site like Live Mocha.
Just an idea, why not setting up a subforum where all posts and replies should be mainly in Chinese, so that people can learn and practice the language here for free?
@Daithi you can't just make up a shenfenzheng number - staff at wangba will pull up your info using an authorized national ID inquiry system to verify the authenticity of the number.
@lyl_lisa I'm like the opposite of your experience, a Kunmingnese and now a new Chicagoan.
18 years in Kunming, 4 years in Shanghai, 2 years in Bloomington, IN, and now 4 years in Chicago. I definitely share the same experience of yours - being able to live in different places across cultures help to make a better myself in many ways.
BTW this winter in Chicago is BRUTAL! First time in my life that I saw Fahrenheit converge with Celsius at -40!!
