Forums > Food & Drink > Raw Organic Goat Milk ( Grass Fed)

"Regular" cow's milk is routinely treated with additives (just google Sanlu milk company if you're curious) and taken from cows kept in squalid, inhumane, and unhealthy conditions. Milk in China usually has a sweet taste, mostly because it's easier to water it down and add sugar to make up for the fact that there is no taste of milk fat. And I'd rather pay a little extra for

For lactose-tolerant populations, milk from organically raised and pastured goats and cows is quite nutritious. Every other mammal on the planet can't digest lactose after childhood except for several human populations (Northern Europeans). Therefore the ability to digest lactose must have been a selective pressure on those populations.

Northern people, people in your ancestral family who could not survive off of goats' and other animals' milk died so that those who could would have babies leading to you.

Forums > Living in Kunming > How much should I charge for teaching 1-on-1?

Hey all,

I've got 1 year of teaching experience teaching at one of the big universities here, a B.A., 5 years of Chinese language experience, and now I'm studying Chinese and have a student visa. I'm a young white American male.

I still have to earn money, though. I've seen plenty of opportunities for 1-on-1 instruction, but Chinese people give me much lower estimates of what I should be paid than Western folk here. What's the best way to earn the most amount of money in the least amount of time here without a full-time job? What's a good rate for my qualifications? What can I charge more for (test prep, distance traveled, hazard pay from riding my e-bike through these streets?)

Prefer teenagers and older.

Thanks!

Well done Hugh. I was in Luang Prabang myself in February, and it was just as beautiful and interesting as you say.

There are a variety of other things to do in and around Luang Prabang. Some of the ecotourism companies like Green Discovery offer quite a good experience, albeit at a hefty price for what people accustomed to living in China would think.

The elephant village is also worth a look. Tourists can enjoy the elephants guilt-free, since all of them have been rescued from the logging industry. Carrying tourists around, even fat ones, is much better than 700 kilogram logs, and the elephants are all well-fed and cared for.

Laos can be reached by Vientiane as well, and Vientiane is also worth a look. It's the sleepiest, shortest (no skyscrapers that I could see) capital city that I've ever seen.

Laos is not as developed as Thailand or Vietnam, and the people are much more relaxed as well. Getting away to places like Nong Khaiw, (5 hours from LP) is easy and well worth it.
