Those of you missing the great food and drinks sold in countless Australian and New Zealand cafes, bakeries and wine bars will find a slice of heaven in Kunming. Every day we bake bread, pizzas, cakes, pies and cookies for you to enjoy. Our drinks bar has locally sourced teas and our own specially roasted Baoshan coffee. Slice of Heaven
I wanted to express my sincerest thanks to Slice of Heaven and all of the individuals who made Saturday's "sidewalk market" such a big success.
I heard about it that morning from Colin at Salvadors, and I am very happy that I went.
I wish there were more of them, but I do understand how much time and energy it requires to be successful.
While I was there, I met the owner, Barbara.
The restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere and decor.
I had the bacon and egg salad--I would recommend it and the restaurant to anyone.
I only wish that I could buy wine by the glass.
I am sure that when I enjoy a great dinner, I will surely give them five stars.

The break and baked goods are quite good, rivaling other decent places such as As You Like (although I still think that French Cafe takes the cake in the bread department.)
The Sunday Roast is tasty and a good chance to meet some new and interesting people (communal seating seems to be encouraged.)

I tried to have my slice of heaven, but I’m not quiet convinced so far. First of all I had high expectations after reading through some others of the reviews and therefore I where expecting a really homey spot, a bit living room like, but that’s not the case. The set up
is nice and very urban but not living room like, which is fine if you like this kind of cool-ish atmospheres.
When it comes to food….prices are reasonable but the food itself did not rock my boat. The bruschetta I had in mind was not having any kind of the classical tomato mixture with some olive oil, basil, garlic and maybe some onions on, actually it was just bruschetta bread with olive oil on top…..
The Hummus was too sour for my liking, even vinegar taste like and so was the mustard dressing for the salad.
The bread and the jam in the counter for sales looked good but I might give it a try another time.

This place is tops, have attended quite a few Sunday roasts there and are very impressed with the baking and welcoming atmosphere. I buy most of my bread there also and have become addicted to the carrot cake - its just like my mum makes! Friendly staff, free fast wifi, couches for slouching, decent magazines for reading (I found a couple of New Scientists even!)... bliss! The prices are what I would expect also and Barbara gives some good discounts to frequent customers... maybe you should have a frequent customer card Barbara? After 200RMB... a free piece of carrot cake!

My wife and I went along to Slice of Heaven last night for the Sunday roast dinner. It was absolutely outstanding and made a really nice change for us. Barbara even went out of her way to make gluten-free options, including desserts, for us. It was like being at a dinner-party at home where we could meet new people. Fun was had by all. It was also great value. We will definitely be going back again.
