Dropped by for brunch and coffee the other day. Great service and decent food. Cozy cafe with a small patio area, suits the purpose.

went for dinner on a sunday night. staff were very friendly and the place had a great vibe and a quiet mellow second floor.

we ordered a tuna salad, a vegetarian japanese dish (forgot the name) and the vegetarian pizza. The first 2 dishes were great but the pizza was the worst I've had in Kunming in the few years I've been here. I swear it was a frozen pizza from Metro (they said it was made fresh...). On top of the mediocre frozen food taste, we ordered thick crust and were given thin, under-cooked (not heated-up enough?) crust.

When we paid the bill, we checked and were over-charged a few quai. An honest mistake i'm sure, but worth noting.
all in all we'll definitely go back but recommend avoiding the pizza.

Regardless of where Kunming is, there is some great western food in this city and so a standard to go with.

Totally agree with Barbara, I've been many times in Prague Cafe and I have to say:
-the cappuccino is the best you can get in town
- their breakfast offers, especially the fruit salad with yoghurt and granola never disappointed me
- the pasta is of course not authentically Italian but it's always cooked in the proper way and tasty (and it's not cheap to make a good pasta in kunming)
- the staff is absolutely friendly, efficient and nice (this is another thing not easy to get in town)
People are getting more and more picky in km, we should just remember we are in south west of china and considering the prices of foreign ingredients we should think to be lucky to get somebody available to provide foreign dishes (no western bars/restaurant gets rich in km).
Criticism is good when it's done to improve things, otherwise sounds just over the top and not respectful.

I'm a long term fan of Prague Cafe, both Beichen and Wen Lin Jie. It's clean, bright, has some of the friendliest staff in town, great coffee and, their pasta primavera beats all. Just reading a review of Aiyaryarr's makes me want to scream, "Aiyaryarr!!!" Where do you think you are? This is Kunming, in the middle of China, not London, New York, Paris. People here opening cafes, bars, restaurants are not Michelin Star chefs, just people. They love Kunming, food, people, good coffee and want to share that. Instead of blahing off, why don't you either open a cafe of your own and expose yourself to the same criticism you level at others go back to Paris, New York, Mummy, wherever.
