Even the Buddhists here must compromise and move meat off their plate or eat noodles cooked in broth where meat was present. Tours for foreigners usually have a veggie option so check. But tour food places can be the low end of things so you might want to sneak away and find some stuff for yourself though you would need to know a little Chinese.]]></content:encoded>

In Dali there's a little area with 3-4 vegetarian places, incuded the Pure Lotus, not bad. Just in front a tiny place, big husband and not so smily wife; try their dumplings and the mix appetizers. From there, going down to Fuxing rd, you meet a place on the left where two sisters cook vegetarian dumpling, too. If you pass in Shaxi, go to Hungry Buddha. In Shuhe (Lijiang), if it's still open don't miss the food at Nomad guesthouse.]]></content:encoded>
