Chan Yuan = 禅院 = Buddhist temple or monastery

Ci = 祠 = Ci Tang = 祠堂 = Ancestral temple

Dao Chang = 道场 = Taoist or Buddhist rituals performed to save the souls of the dead.

Dian = 殿 = Palace

Dian Tang = 殿堂 = Palace or hall in a temple 

Dian Yu = 殿宇 = Palace

Miao = 庙 = Miao Yu = 庙宇 = Temple 

Guan = 观 = Dao Guan = 道观 = Taoist temple

Si = 寺 = Si Yuan = 寺院 = Monastery

Wen = 文 = Wen Miao = 文庙 - Confucian Temple
