Nicotine! Where?

Peter99 (1246 posts) • 0

Been doing chewing-tobacco (with plenty nicotine) for long time and its about to finnish. When the withdrawal comes (soon) it means, that I can crawl up along the outer ceiling of my Plaza - high up - just to release agony.

So anyway, I checked the pharmacies today for Nicorette, or some Chinese fake substitute around. None. Is this really the case?

Went to Bird & Flower Market to look for e-cigs, but the (fake?) crap they had didnt really impress, and I got no idea about that shit anyway.

I cant smoke cigarrette as it gives asthma. Whether e-cigs have that potential Im not sure I want to experiment with. The only solution is to chew tobacco (nicotine) or even f-kin shoot it up a vein, if theres a chance within a few days.

So is there any Nicorette anywhere to be found in Spring City? Or any other substitute? They got the Tibetan crap in Shangrila (nose tobacco thingy), but I aint go there now to get that - and whether the shop is burned down is another question. Any of that Tibetan stuff in Kunming? Any Swede with a box of snus? (I pay generously and I can introduce you to Asian snus market/availability later too.)

Nicotine addiction is a fabrication of the tobacco industry. Mental enslavement for those who truly want to believe in magazine articles about costly long term methods that slowly diminish the addictive effects of nicotine. Just do it cold turkey. I've done it after more than 10 years of smoking and it worked. The secret is to simply replace it with another habit (eg. the gym).

The Swedish "snus" chewing tobacco is very addictive. Much more than cigarettes. Its like comparing a beer with vodka.

While there likely is a mental part in addiction, theres an obvious physical part too, - in this case.

In just about any Southeast-Asian country they have Nicorette among their Viagras and what else. For anyone else curious: I checked online and Nicorette is found in Guangxi and Guangdong, but the mountains are still too high around the corner here.

Thanks for the tip anyway. Gone cold turkey several times before, and hate it, but can deal! Probably have to chew the fake tobacco for a while as a placebo.

Right. I was wrong in thinking that you were trying to find a solution to stop nicotine intake.

My parents are coming and visit me next month, from Sweden. If you're interested to buy snus I can ask them to bring some.

Yankee, just small-talk.

Theres 14 days "to survive" - a life and death battle - starting from tomorrow, when the last box is empty.

After that I fly to Mandalay, and you bet I know where you get the Indian chewing tobacco there - outside the University indeed. Its crap, but it works. In Bangkok you even get the wonderful Philippines cherry tasting stuff - as theres every brand around. Shit, even thinking about it brings a comfort.

So just checked that baking soda releases nicotine from tobacco. Have chewed that Yunnan tobacco before - and though it works - it gives a horrible itching in throat, probably as its so full of pesticides. But where there is a will, there is a way! For tomorrow the plan is to go and buy baking soda from Carrefour!

Thanks Swedish. You are talking about March, I assume, as February started an hour ago or so. Too late, but appreciated.

Theres snus just around the borders here, no need to get from Scandinavia, you can PM me anytime, and I can give more details if you need.

I used to make it myself too several years back. Bought all the fancy chemicals from pharmacy, but I quit the habit after the Chinese chemicals gave a nose bleeding!

yankee, nicotine addiction is not a fabrication of the tobacco industry, though the supposed horror of cold turkey are exaggerated way out of proportion by over-focusing on them.
Addiction to anything is really interesting - the point about it is that you CAN refrain, but you very often wind up CHOOSING not to.

What is free will?

Peter99 (1246 posts) • 0

Some drugs are supposed to change your "free will". Theres an old Yunnan story about the Spirit of a Beautiful Lady inside the smoke of the poppy flower, that seduces your will, and your will, will become focused on something else. (will, will, will).

Over here the plant world is (used to be) associated with a dose of spirituality, and using a mechanical Western philosophy on it may not always be the right tool. Or who knows anyway, but at least thats another dimension. Did someone mention Castaneda? Duh.

Well, indeed there are just traces left of these traditions today, and with the latest generation all is lost.

Nicotine addiction is certainly exaggerated in some situations. Using a box of snus a day - or other of that chewing stuff - Ive heard its equivalent to 100 cigs a day. When you give it to a Yunnanese chain-smoker to taste, he goes high as if he got a puff of opium, and says "zhege dongxi tai lihai le!", gets numb and spits it out.

But to make a conclusion here, I was certainly expecting to find something called "Nigorette" or "Nicorelle" in the local pharmacy here. Nope, thats not the case - maybe yet so!

If you can go to a sauna for a few days in a row, that will significantly shorten the withdrawal, if that's your last option.
