I had a few suits made at a local tailor located at 119 An Kang Lu (the back of Nordica). I unfortunately don't remember the price but I went to the fabric market with a friend, bought some material, brought it back, and had two quality suits made for relatively cheap (cheaper than the 1200 quoted above).
Guys,
Do you think these tailors can re-cut a suit? (Re-cutting, or re-tailoring a suit used to be a standard thing in the U.S., when suits were still very expensive. Nowadays, it isn't done much because its usually cheaper just to buy a new suit.) I don't know if re-cutting is a standard approach in China.
Since being in Kunming, I've lost weight and I will probably continue to lose weight. At the same time, I'm a big guy and I'm never going to find an off-the-rack suit in my size. I also like these suits I have and I'd love to continue to wear them.
Let me know what you think. Thanks!
I agree with Bhavesh. Hong Kong has an abundance of custom tailors that can recreate just about anything you ask of them. Prices due to competition are also quite good. I would suggest checking it out on your next trip there.
Hi all, any new leads on a decent place to get a suit made in Kunming. Unfortunately I don't have time to go someplace else to get it made. Is the shop on Luofeng Jie still there?
Firing up the suit conversation again, and wondering if the tailors mentioned five years ago are still there? Or if people have recent experience with other tailors who make a decent suit? I'd love to go to Hoi An, Hongkong or BKK for a suit but I just don't have the time right now. Thank you!
Depends on your situation, of course, but you may well find that you don't need one in Kunming.
I am beginning to get a bit peed of with people in public places using FaceTime or streaming video without using earphones .
@tiger
You are on the wrong page ;-)
It's 8 years now since I had a suit made at a little shop across from Yan'an hospital. They're gone now.
