I've ordered two books from Amazon UK since arriving in Kunming. Neither arrived. Went to the post office but they were no help whatsoever. I had no problem getting books delivered when I lived in Beijing. Perhaps Kunming has not fully 开放

I think you need a licence to import books. We all do it, but if they disappear, then it is tough luck.
I use a Kindle, and buy online with online delivery. No problems waiting or hauling around books. The downside is that choice is limited, but I have more than enough to read.

So sad, I'm not buying books. how much will it charge if weight 4lbs? I read chinese.
