are there any african hair salons in kunming?

There is a definite gap in the market.
But then I doubt that there would be enough customers to support a dedicated business in Kunming. I have, to date, only seen two black people in Kunming. Although there are possibly more.

Are you looking for a place that specialises in Black people's hair type? Or a place that does traditional African haircuts?

I have seen a Chinese guy downtown who had a neat Afro and a few Chinese girls with braids. My neighbour got dreadlocks.

You could probably ask the existing salons if what you want is in their catalogue.

I second what tigertiger said. Just this pass few days I've seen two black ladies (probably sisters) in my neck of the woods (North).

I would take a wild guess that one of them may have been blindheart.

Thanks for responding! I am looking to find a place that does braids/ dreadlocks. I may have to travel outside of Kunming for that. I was hoping that there would be at least an area or shops that can do this. But thanks guys!

I see some local musicians that have braids or dreads. Some of their groupies do too. Maybe ask them if you see them playing a gig. Laowo bar for sure, but according to GoK it's gone now.
