Kunming is a city with over 7 million population, including unofficial residents.
Yes there are many markets. All of them are local to somebody. Can you be a bit more specific as to your neighborhood. Then someone may be able to help.

There is a food market, go south in

beijing Lu, past the flyover, past Carrefour. On the next block is a moderm buiding that looks wonky. Opposite side if road on corner in basement under the eelectical goods store..

There are other places a bit closer. If you head south of Metro (i think it's Jinshi Lu), take the second street on the left, it has many small restaurants in it. When the road starts to curve, you'll see many vegetable/fruit sellers on the street You can buy your stuff with them, or take the alley that is on the right (there are other sellers with stalls in it). Follow the that small street, turn left and immediately right, and the market will be on your left
