I am living short-term in Dali and plan to hike Tiger Leaping Gorge this coming weekend—would like to leave from Dali as early as possible Saturday morning... Maybe even Friday night. I speak Chinese and have done the hike twice. Need to get through and back to Dali by Sunday. Would anyone like to link up and do it together?

Hey Yelp! I'm not going this weekend, but I do have a question about hiking Tiger Leaping Gorge. Would hiking the gorge in February be too cold/dangerous (snow, ice, etc.)? Would you recommend hiking it in February or waiting till the Spring?

Shouldn't be any problem to go in February. It's very sunny up there during the day, and you will probably get hot enough to strip down to t-shirt and shorts, especially while climbing the 28 bends. Snow is very unlikely. The most dangerous time of year to go is in the rainy season, late summer/early fall. Have a good trip!
