Danmairen - This is a perfect issue to report to te Mayors Hotline (12345). Best way is to submit a report online. Take pictures, not video and send it as an attachment. I am sure you will receive positive results.

I have one word for everyone in the meantime: torrents.
Just go online and download what you want rather than forking out money for dvds, which now seem harder to find anyway. Sure, it's technically illegal, but it's not like the USA authorities would have authority to track you down in China, a country that pirates more programming than nearly any other country on the planet.
Just a thought.
Like buying pirate DVDs is not illegal.
I noticed that the last post here was made 3 years ago. It's currently October 2015 and I am wondering if there are still any DVD shops in Kunming. I realize I can download movies but I prefer to buy them here because they have subtitles and this helps me learn the language better.
DVD shops are still open. There is one in the streets around KunDu and one near Wen Lin Jie.
Also on Yuanxi Lu/ Yuantong Bei Lu crossroads.
