YunnanExplorer says the horse race is "now sadly moved to a purpose-built stadium at the outskirts of town."

Does anyone have first-hand experience with this event? Is it well worth a trip or not so much? This year it is scheduled for June 23-25.

Thanks for any suggestions or insights. I'll be traveling a few days in Dali and Lijiang, and could shorten those stays to catch Zhongdian and the horse racing.

I have been to previous horse festivals. They vary each year in size and scope, as well as location.

Have heard this year isn't a big event. Plus prospect of it being rainy around that time.

As usual the main events are held at the stadium, including the main races and a big song and dance show, but there is also an outdoor racing event at the southern end of the airport runway, in 尼史 village.
