I have an older machine to donate. I could just walk into a computer store and dump it, but I know it won't be put to good use. I prefer it goes to someone who needs it.
It could serve as an internal web-server, a network storage server, or anything you could put a headless linux machine to use. Err.. hook it up to a cheap webcam and run this >> www.zoneminder.com/ ZoneMinder the top Linux video camera security and surveillance solution... keep an eye on your home while away...
Specs:
Dell Dimension 3000
2.4Hz Intel Celeron D (256 cache)
256Mb DDR SDRAM (333mhz) one more memory bank free
80Gb Maxtor hdd model 6Y080L0
USB bootable
Good case, proper ventilation.
Surprisingly silent.
Just needs a bit of dusting and a couple of sprays of circuit cleaner and I think it will make a reliable machine.
Any ideas?? Anyone wants it?
