Jewish High Holidays in Kunming

elibildner (2 posts) • 0

Greetings!

I'm newly arrived in Kunming, and just in time for the Jewish New Year. As the city doesn't seem to be exactly teeming with synagogues, I though I might start a thread for people looking to celebrate - in any way - the Jewish high holidays.

I've brought with me here a mahzor (high holiday prayerbook) and a shofar, and plan on doing something for both erev Rosh Hashana (the evening preceding the Jewish new year, Wednesday 9/8) and for erev Yom Kippur, or Kol Nidre (the night before the day of atonement). I'd like to welcome anyone - Jewish or not - to join me as I mark the start of the Jewish year. I'd also welcome any suggestions or information if anyone is currently planning something of a similar ilk.

You can reach me at elias.bildner@gmail.com. Once you can get in contact, I can pass along more information as it becomes available.

Thanks so much, and a sweet new year to all,

Eli

High Eli and all,

Although I will be spending Rosh Hashana in Beijing and Kippur in Shanghai, I thought I could organize Sukkot at home in Kunming...

I was also thinking about organizing some Shabbat dinner from time to time.

Whoever would like to join, please drop me a mail: nathaniel@farouz.net

See you and Chag Sameach !
