Expungments still stay on the record so it's not like it disappears and no one can see it.
I believe the offices which process criminal background checks in your home country will be able to tell you the conditions under which it is possible to be pardoned for past offences and if it is completely wiped off the criminal record check. Maybe the word pardon will appear? then you need to find out if the Chinese authorities will accept it.
