starbucks can do it for you. As for carefour or metro, the coffee there is not great and not much to choose from - just lavazo (or whatever). Personally, i like Illy coffee, and just order it off taobao. But i havent tried out these places the others've suggested, so that might be better and easier.

There are currently three Starbucks Reserve bars in Kunming (Nanya, ShunCheng, & ZhengYi Old Street branches).

They feature four brewing methods prepared by recently trained baristas: Siphon, Pour-over, Chemex and Clover.

The current seasonal small-lot coffees available for brewing:

1. Colombia (La Casiana) - Juicy acidity with milk chocolate notes.

2. El Salvador (San Marcelino Farm) - A hint of citrus with black tea notes

3. Guatemala (Flor Del Rosario) - Floral with redcurrant notes

4. Kenya (Karinga) - Citrus and blackcurrant notes

@Burgon: OK but try the Hani and Aini, and I think there's another one, from Yunnan, they can be quite good, and different roasts. Again, I suggest the beans, plus your own grinder.

Buy roasted beans from Brooklyn Pizza and grind them yourself. Or ask them to grind them for you. The coffee's perfectly OK. What on earth is Chemex or Clover? You can get grinders and French presses on Taobao or from shops in town.
