Hello, I want to go hiking the beautiful mountains arounds kunming.
However I am pretty clueless on how to start doing it. I wish I could join a club or a group or someone, chinese or foreigner, who could take me along.

Don't know about groups but if you get a chance visit Jiaozi mountain its about 2 and a half hours north of Kunming. Wouldn't mind joining a group tho if there is one

Just ask any Chinese friends if they want to hike up Xishan. It's nearby and convenient, so one or more should say yes. If you can't find anyone, you can still get to Xishan yourself, but you'll either have to pay the whole taxi yourself or do several buses and an hour or longer to get there depending where you live.

Or you can take the Metro/subway (line 3?) to Xishan Forest Park station. Which is at the bottom of Xi Shan. You can then either wander up the official footpath (more like a road in places) or find your own routes.
