Hi all, I'm at the moment considering a job opportunity in Lijiang, and I am wondering if there's any international schools in Lijiang?

I have two kids, one will be 4 next year and the other one year old (no school needed).

I know there are schools in Kunming but there's very little information about Lijiang.

Any input or suggestions are welcome.

I very much doubt it. Some parents I know have put pre-school kids into Chinese pre-schools ($), and the children are able to adapt and pick up the language.
However, if the job posting is going to be more than a year, then the options for school will take a little more thought. Boarding in a Kunming school would be one option, home schooling another.

No chance.

Also international schools are for secondary and tertiary education. Anyone who says they are going to provide "international school education" to your four year old is pulling the wool over your eyes.

looks like if i do decide to pursue this opportunity, i will have to put my four year old in a local pre-school.

anyone has experience doing so?

if i can't get the school thing work out for my kid i guess i just have to pass on this opportunity... sigh

It might also be worth posting the question about experience with preschool on expat websites for Shanghai, Beijing, etc. as there are a lot more expats there.

Seems to me Chinese pre-school would be a good idea.

My home is in LiJiang. I'm an international school teacher. There IS an international school there for your kids!!! I'm at work in GZ just now, later today I'll post more info.

I believe there is a school in Lijiang.
