Species of birds at Green Lake

_shara_ (98 posts) • 0

hello,

does anyone happen to have a link listing bird species that might be around Kunming/Yunnan ideally in English?, I was looking at the birds this morning at Green Lake and it would be nice to work out what they are. I know I'm being lazy, I should get a Chinese bird book or research it more myself, but just in case :)

I am pretty sure that there are books on Yunnan birds, and so you are looking for something that does exist.
Apart from trawling the internet, you could also look/ask in Mandarin Books on Wenhua Xiang, up the road and around the corner from Salvador's cafe bar

I've seen an eagle hovering over Green Lake and I'm sure I've seen bats there at night. They flew past really quickly so couldn't quite see in the dark.

Bats and Swifts (a very cool kind of bird related to the hummingbird) are common every evening.

I also enjoy watching them, especially from The Park.

@AlexN Thanks for that link at the end of your post. I finally identified a bird I see occasionally at the lake.
