Polish Beggar in Guangzhou

@Dudeson: True that some do, more or less - and it's always a matter of more or less. Take India, for example, where I have met beggars from western countries; or the US, where US-American beggars are far from invisible.

@HOtwater: I wonder how much the same foreigners would give to a Chinese beggar?
Doesn't sound like this guy is causing much trouble.

People giving to beggars varies.....

The guy might not be doing much harm in your view but he is reinforcing the stereotype that all beggars are liars and cheats. As that is what he is doing. If he'd spent one day there trying to get the train fair to Kunming then fair enough. Whereas what he's actually doing is playing on people's sympathies by lying.

@Alien

When he finally gets here, have him stay at your house then, if he's such a great guy.

If he's from Poland and has no money he should be saving his beggings for a trip to the Polish embassy to get himself home, not titting about in Kunming with no money.

Will he show up at Salvador's, begging for money to buy a bottle of the finest wine? Will you give him money?

Yeah! Crowd funding is the way to go. Try indiegogo.com. Someone from Kunming raised big money on it.

Powodzenia!
