Left Kunming last year. Lived there 4 years. Recently a friend tried to send my laptop to me here in Thailand, but China Post refused to send it. Anybody who can tell me why they have this strange policy???

my guess is that that's to do with the laptop's battery - there are restrictions on the transport of liquids, explosives and whatnot, and sometimes batteries are lumped in with such substances.

Go to the sevenseasworldwide website and look under FAQ. They explain what can and can't be posted into China. I think you'll find electrical goods on the list.

No doubt it is the battery. China will not allow devices with batteries to be send through the post.
